Responsibilities:
The sponsor is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to support a diverse workforce by supporting and testing the Accessibility of Enterprise and Mission focused IT Systems. The sponsor is looking for a systems engineer (SE) capable of interacting with staff who are requesting support of the Accessibility Office and understanding of the needs and providing solutions. The SE will have experience in accessibility and can draw upon other technical domains as necessary to meet the sponsor’s objectives.
Adapt Accessibility Solutions and Assistive Technology (AT): Support customers in determining the best AT options for their needs with current product base. Help train users on the technology use Research new technology solutions to support current/future requirements Provide Accessibility Consultations: Assistive Technology Consultations: These are consultations which focus on addressing the accessibility requirements for an individual and can span a multitude of AT solutions including both hardware and software. Provide suggestions to customer regarding AT solutions that meet their needs Discuss medical limitations, disabilities, and customer concerns which interfere with performing their job duties Address customer questions Ensure the reasonable accommodation and legal process is being following while providing exceptional customer service Travel locally to assist customers at their desks
Qualifications:
Must POSSESS and be able to maintain a TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph Self-starter and ability to support multiple projects and/or activities Demonstrated on-the-job experience coordinating and working action items to completion Demonstrate outstanding customer service and people skills to work with people with disabilities Proven expertise on AT software (e.g., Fusion, Jaw, Zoomtext, Dragon, Read and Write, and built-in Accessibility features for Windows, Office, and all browsers) Critical thinking skills enough to make sound and timely recommendations and/or decisions in unique situations, considering alternate actions Ability to match technology needs to disabilities or issues people are experiencing across a wide range of medical needs and disabilities (blind/low vision, deaf/hard of hearing, mobility issues, etc.). Working knowledge of Sponsor’s and external stakeholders; processes, policies, procedures, and internal support systems including security, IT legal, and Reasonable Accommodation requirements Collaboration and interpersonal skills to effectively support personnel in all types of mental and physical states Ability to research possible new technology solutions/options based on current and future needs A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience (3 years for Bachelors) in Computer Science, Information Systems, business or scientist discipline, or relevant experience Minimum 10 year’s relevant experience
