Boeing Defense Space & Security has an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Multi Skill Avionics Engineer to join us as part of the Executive Transport Services and Support team located in Oklahoma City, OK.

Executive Transport Services and Support serves the most demanding customers of VVIP aircraft. It is our responsibility to maintain a variety of commercial derivative military aircraft and keep them mission ready at all times. Candidates best suited for this position are those that enjoy a challenging, fast paced environment with acute attention to details and quality.

The avionics engineer will have an excellent opportunity to communicate their work products to stakeholders both internal and external. They will be expected to become subject matter experts in guidance navigation and control as well as auto-flight and other avionics systems. You will interface with external suppliers to drive quality to our products and ensure that requirements and supplier statements of work are being followed. Integration and test work with aircraft hardware and simulation devices in a Systems Integration Lab as well as shipside support will be necessary elements of this position. Our engineers get to take advantage of our  unique schedule which aligns to the standard 9/80 work schedule. The 9/80 schedule allows employees to work a nine-hour shift Monday through Thursday and take every other Friday off.

Position Responsibilities

  • Gathers, defines and documents system level requirements to support flight control and mission or trajectory requirements definition.
  • Resolves requirement conflicts.
  • Performs and documents analysis and design of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) systems to validate or assess the system design or models.
  • Develops solutions and disposition of issues to assure customer satisfaction.
  • Designs trade studies to meet program requirements.
  • Works under general direction.

This position allows limited telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically depending on business needs

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Oklahoma Engineering Tax Credit

If you have an engineering degree from an ABET accredited college or university and are not currently working in the aerospace sector in Oklahoma, you may qualify for a $5000 tax credit from the state of Oklahoma for up to five years.  Click here for more information on the tax credit.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in an engineering or science related field
  • 3+ years of experience working with and/or coordinating across engineering disciplines to identify best practices and implement on multiple programs
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • The ability to obtain Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • 1+ years of LabView experience
  • 1+ years of experience with avionics systems

Typical Education/Experience

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
