Position Overview:

Boeing Defense & Space (BDS) is seeking a motivated & experienced Project Engineer to support the B-52 Commercial Engine replacement Program located in Oklahoma City, OK. The ideal candidate will have experience as a B-52 Instructor Pilot as well as a background working on B-52 operations and maintenance.  The project engineer will be an integral member of the B-52 Commercial Engine Replacement Program (CERP) Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) team.  Be a part of a team that is bringing new life to the USAF’s oldest strategic bomber. As a Project Engineer with previous operational aircraft experience, you will have the opportunity to work with professionals from across the aerospace industry that will optimize pilot interfaces for controlling, monitoring and utilizing the new Rolls Royce F130 engines and associated sub-systems.  NOTE: This is a non-flying position.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Interface with USAF aircrew and former B-52 pilots to obtain user feedback for proper sub-system function and display requirements.

  • Evaluate proposed designs for operational usability and provide assistance to Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) regarding pilot operations.

  • Assist with pilot checklist and performance data development.

  • Identifies performance metrics. Plans, identifies and coordinates resources required over the life of the project or program.

  • Compares actual results to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity and lessons learned.

  • Provides technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans.

  • Works under consultative direction.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the listed location.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Technical Bachelor's, Master's or a PhD degree (A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study).

  • Minimum of 3+ years experience as a B-52 Pilot

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering

  • Active Secret (or higher) US Security Clearance.  (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the post 24 months is considered active.)

  • Prior Instructor/Evaluator Pilot experience

  • Flight test and evaluation experience

Typical Education/Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
