The Boeing Company is seeking an experienced software leader to join our team as our Linux Software Platform Senior Manager. In this role, you will manage the execution and delivery of software products & capabilities and be responsible for the broader strategic vision around them. This includes an understanding of all aspects of the products and capabilities delivered and their impact on: customer, employee, financial, and legal aspects involved. This is a highly visible, multi-year strategic effort that impacts all areas of the enterprise.

Successful candidate will have to:

  • Quickly build trust with key stakeholders and navigate through all aspects of the product & capabilities

  • Be comfortable presenting to executives and able to adapt communications to meet stakeholder preference

  • Drive roadmaps, execution, and delivery for products & capabilities

  • Proactively manage Risks & Issues

  • Introduce repeatable processes

Position Responsibilities:

  • Drive the strategy and vision for the certifiable SW development of Linux Platforms within the organization

  • Provide Linux kernel capabilities to Enterprise Software Products and Capabilities

  • Work with Chief Architect and Engineer to develop certifiable SW adhering to the common architectures and standards

  • Partner with Business Unit SW product line leaders to ensure support is meeting their needs

  • Develop integrated plans and schedules to meet customer needs

  • Manage, track, and status tasks including cost, schedule, and technical performance

  • Execute & deliver on the scope of the assigned project/s, working with multi-located & multi-functional teams

  • Manage Risks, Issues & Opportunities

  • Development of product & capabilities roadmaps that align to the broader vision of the origination

  • Foster a culture that supports diversity and inclusion

  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders, peers, partners across the enterprise

  • Ability to think critically, problem solve and comfortable working through ambiguity as required

  • Ability & willingness to embrace change & ambiguity

This position has been identified as a virtual opportunity and does not require applicants to live in Mesa, Arizona, USA.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering and/or computer science

  • 3+ years of experience in developing Linux or Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) software

  • 5+ years of experience in a software leadership role

  • Experience with delivering products and/or capabilities to business partners and customers

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working with cross functional teams and in support of a global presence

  • Embedded Software development experience in Real-Time Operating System or Linux-class hosts

  • Risk Management / Mitigation experience

  • Safety-Critical / FAA software certification experience

  • Experience with contributions to open source projects

Summary pay range: $114,660 – $212,940
