The Boeing Company is looking for a Senior Manager of Fleet Performance Engineering and Lifecycle Data to lead a team of managers, individual contributors and integrated project teams in the development of digital, data and analytics engineering capabilities that improve customer operations, optimize lifecycle cost of airplanes and platforms, drive operational excellence, and further strengthen product and services quality and safety. This organization directly supports the transformation of BGS towards a digital-first business with industry-leading scalable and replicable engineering capabilities.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and apply digital, data, and analytics engineering capabilities to support decision making, the development of new products and services and to enhance fleet performance and reliability.
  • Partner across organizations to understand and drive consistency in the needs, requirements and deliverables of Fleet Performance Engineering and Lifecycle Data
  • Acquire and curate new, and maintain over 150 existing, lifecycle data sources to enable Support and Services for BGS, BCA, and BDS.
  • Perform engineering analysis and sensor data analytics to develop prognostics to improve fleet performance, mitigate operational disruption, and provide feedback loops to improve system design.
  • Provide Engineering support to Airplane Health Management product team.
  • Partner with airlines through the prognostic research collaboration program to accelerate prognostic development.
  • Manage a suite of analytics powered applications that enables thousands of users across the Enterprise to access fleet and operational data in order to discover, investigate, monitor and resolve aircraft issues.
  • Implement Model Based Engineering through development of the Operational Digital Thread and Operational Digital Twins to drive deeper levels of insight of fleet operation and health.

Security Clearance:

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. secret clearance Post Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):  

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, business or technical field
  • 5+ years of experience working in digital solutions and/or data analytics, and/or simulation and modeling domains
  • 3+ years of experience leading and/or managing a team
  • Experience leading through influence and partnering with cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives
  • Experience communicating, collaborating, and building consensus with internal and external stakeholders
  • Gains others' trust by demonstrating openness and honesty, behaving consistently, and acting in accordance with moral, ethical, professional, and organizational guidelines
  • Demonstrated ability to execute a significant effort/program to plan

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience applying data science or analytics in the aerospace domain
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience developing and deploying digital solutions in the aerospace domain
  • Knowledge of or direct experience with commercial airline operations
  • Experience working with and/or coordinating across engineering disciplines to identify best practices and implement on multiple programs
  • A strong natural leadership style that moves people to act, motivates and inspires excellence and innovation
  • Proactively and quickly makes sense of complex issues; responds effectively to complex and ambiguous situations; communicates complicated information simply

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Hybrid/Telecommute:

This Hybrid position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. (Seattle, WA).
