The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Associate Real-Time Software Engineer (Level 2) to join the Special Projects Dallas (SPD) P-8A Advanced Airborne Sensor (AAS) Software Engineering team located in Richardson, TX. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

The Associate Software Engineer will provide full software engineering life-cycle software design, development, integration and maintenance support for the P-8A Advanced Airborne Sensor (AAS) Mission Systems contracts. The candidate will be focused on software engineering activities in support of multiple product lines.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Partner with hardware, software, and systems engineering to design, develop, troubleshoot, and test P-8A AAS mission systems or AAS Trainer software

  • Perform engineering activities in highly integrated and complex computing environments

  • Provide on-site/in-person software systems support, troubleshooting, and related configuration management activities

  • Analyze and implement requirements to ensure system conforms to architectural and cybersecurity objectives

  • Build and maintain software intensive information systems that comply with Risk Management Framework (RMF) security requirements

  • Troubleshoot mission system software, operating system, and installation problems

  • Assists with the development, documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.

  • Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system.

  • Assists with test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met.

  • Supports software project management and software supplier management functions.

  • Selects, tailors and deploys processes and tools; establishes metrics.

  • Performs software research and trade studies.

  • Troubleshoots software issues.

  • Works under general supervision.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering and/or a Technical discipline.

  • 2+ or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.

  • 1+ years of experience in software development.

  • 1+ years of experience with development of C/C++, java, and/or Linux Operating Systems.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in AGILE/DevOps tools and methodologies

  • Experience developing in Java and/or C++

  • Experience in Real-Time Algorithm implementation

  • Experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration/execution environment development

  • Operator Machine Interface/User Interface/Open GL development

  • Experience in Development, documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, interfaces and designs for software systems.

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
