The Ground-based Mid-course Defense (GMD) program in Huntsville, AL has an immediate need for a Mid-Level Test and Evaluation Engineer to provide products and engineering test support to many of our nation's critical defense and deterrence systems directed by the Missile Defense Agency. These systems are tested to verify system readiness to risks, threats, and vulnerabilities of the product assets in accordance with accepted industry, professional, and government standards to ensure security design integrity, availability, confidentiality and contract compliance.

Position Responsibilities:

  • System Test engineer supporting GMD flight test and fielding test events. Familiar with electrical and hardware test integration. Familiar with test equipment, operations and procedures

  • Solving problems and anomaly resolution on fielded hardware and software systems

  • Planning and schedule integration for test events

  • Test planning, integration and execution to ensure component and system readiness

  • Integrated Event Test team planning focal, which includes coordination with Integrated Product Team members, customer and subcontractors

  • Prepare team briefings, chart packages and reviews for weekly status on System Test events and component readiness

  • Coordination for resolution of open issues and anomalies

  • Lead completion of Build Integrity Concurrence package per the GMD Delivery Process to ensure flight test hardware system readiness at designated sites

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 3+ years of experience with requirements, test development, and/or verification testing

  • 3+ years of experience working both independently and in a team environment

  • Up to 50% travel

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience applying engineering processes and principles

  • Experience troubleshooting and anomaly resolution on fielded hardware and software systems

  • Experience with executing test plans and procedures

  • Experience with preparing chart briefings and reports

Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
