Boeing Commercial Airplanes has an exciting opportunity for Machined Parts Finishers to join our team in Puyallup, WA.

Employment in this position also requires handling, use of low impact vibratory tools, lifting and carrying less than 10 pounds, finger manipulation, flexion/extension, rotation of head/neck, standing, twisting at the waist, contact with metals, exposure to noise and atmospheric conditions, and the use of personal safety gear for face/eye, hand/arm, ears and feet.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform hand finishing operations on machined parts per drawings, specifications, work orders and engineering dispositions using hand and air powered tools.

  • Work jobs based on order of priority or as assigned by lead.

  • Verify that prior operations have been completed per the work order.

  • Review work order instructions for job information and the following operations (e.g., penetrant inspect, shot peen).

  • Check parts for obvious defects and ensure quantity and part numbers are correct per work order.

  • Work with area lead and/or quality focal to review nonconformance items and/or engineering dispositions to accomplish rework.

  • Obtain and review appropriate drawings, specifications and any other necessary documents to perform the job.

  • Use on-line information systems, as required. Obtain hand or air powered tools (e.g., files, jitterbug, router, sanders) for the assigned job.

  • Hand work part surfaces to break sharp edges, form radii, blend mismatches, lap for flatness or other requirements per drawings, specifications and work order.

  • Use precision measurement tools (e.g., micrometer, calipers, profilometer) to verify dimensions and check surface finish per drawing, specification and work order requirements.

  • Remove tool tabs from aluminum parts using floor mounted band saw, as required.

  • Check work after completion of job to ensure operations are finished per drawing and that there are no obvious visible defects.

  • Clean parts and identify by part marking per work order and specifications using appropriate tools (e.g., vibro engraver, dot peen machine, chemical etch), as required.

  • Protective wrap parts for transportation per work order and specifications, as required.

  • Document completed operations on work order and/or in computer on-line systems.

  • Notify lead when job is complete in order to put up for inspection or in-process checks.

  • Use pendant controlled overhead cranes and pallet jacks to move parts, as required.

  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner.

  • Consult with lead, supervisor or others on process or job related issues, as required.

  • Maintain personal and tool certifications, as required.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 1 year of experience working with hand and power tools such as drills, sanders and saws

  • 1 year of experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications

  • 1 year of experience with using precision measuring tools and equipment such as micrometers, calipers and dial indicators, etc.

  • 1 year of experience in handling and disposing of hazardous materials per government regulations

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • High School diploma or GED

Typical Education:

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Relocation:

This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation.  Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Shift:

This position is for 2nd shift.
