Boeing Defense Space & Security has an exciting opportunity for Lead Project Engineer to join us as part of our Executive Transport Services and Support team located in Oklahoma City, OK

Executive Transport Services and Support serves the most demanding customers of VVIP aircraft. It is our responsibility to maintain a variety of commercial derivative military aircraft and keep them mission ready at all times. Candidates best suited for this position are those that enjoy a challenging, fast paced environment with acute attention to details and quality.

The project engineer will have an excellent opportunity to communicate their work products to stakeholders both internal and external. Maintaining schedules, project baselines, tracking progress and use of budgeted or estimated hours across various Integrated Product Teams will all be part of the Project Engineering experience. As a Lead Project Engineer you will also have the chance to develop other early career engineers as they progress through their career. Our engineers get to take advantage of our  unique schedule which aligns to the standard 9/80 work schedule. The 9/80 schedule allows employees to work a nine-hour shift Monday through Thursday and take every other Friday off.

Position Responsibilities

  • Provides the Engineering leadership to a team representing multiple skill areas, which may include internal and external resources and customers.
  • Develops statement of work (SOW) to satisfy research and development, ongoing and new business requirements.
  • Works with customers and management to obtain approval.
  • Responds to changes to SOW, assesses the impact and negotiates proposed changes to determine modifications to the deliverables, resources, costs and schedules.
  • Leads project execution to complete the work statement.
  • Identifies performance metrics.
  • Plans, identifies, and coordinates resources required over the life of the project or program.
  • Defines plans for risk mitigation and opportunity.
  • Compares actual results to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity and lessons learned.
  • Provides technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans.
  • Works under minimal direction.

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically depending on business needs

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Oklahoma Engineering Tax Credit

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Engineering degree in any of the following majors: Aeronautical Engineering; Aerospace Engineering; Computer Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Systems Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • 3 or more years of experience in Systems Engineering

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • 3 or more years of experience leading a team or a project
  • 3 or more years of experience in engineering project planning or project management
  • 1 or more years of experience with aerospace systems engineering
  • 2 or more years of experience with Scaled Agile Framework enterprise (SAFe) or Agile in general

Typical Education/Experience

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
