The Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) Supplier Quality organization is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join the team in Lafayette, IN. The selected candidate will be part of a global team that is geographically dispersed to assist with development and quality oversight of Boeing's suppliers.

Applicants must reside in/near (within approximately 50 miles) or be willing to relocate to Lafayette, IN.

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite in Lafayette

Position Responsibilities:

  • Engage in early quality involvement with Boeing program(s) and supplier(s) to assist in developing effective quality oversight plans that positively influence the supplier's Quality Management System (QMS) health and performance
  • Manage Boeing Supplier Quality Management System Approvals
  • Inspect/verify product conformance and process compliance with applicable requirements
  • Conduct audits/assessments, document results and share with stakeholders
  • Facilitate Supplier Corrective and Preventative Actions (SCAPA)
  • Perform data analysis to determine supplier defect reduction product and process targets
  • Develop and maintenance of risk based oversight plans based on supplier maturity and performance levels
  • Effectively communicate and provide feedback to supplier regarding development and performance
  • Ensure Boeing and the Supplier(s) have a thorough understanding of requirements and capabilities
  • Lead quality reviews and actively participate in program/customer reviews at suppliers
  • Lead capability and capacity supplier assessments performing current or potential future work
  • Investigate and assist with the resolution of concerns to ensure compliance with requirements
  • Perform Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) statement of conformity activities
  • Must be able to pass Boeing vision certification requirements

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (An Interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post Start is required.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Possess a valid Driver's License
  • Have efficient transportation to get to/from suppliers
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products: Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Completed or pursuing an Engineering Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic, Industrial, and/or Systems Engineering  
  • Completed Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license and/or American Society for Quality Certifications
  • Familiarity and hands-on experience with Aviation, Space and Defense products, mechanical assemblies, structural assembly build-up, metallic/non-metallic materials verification, avionics, electrical and/or electronics, J-Standard IPC 610 Training, Electro-Hydro-Mechanical (EHM), metrology and use of gauges, Special Processes (i.e. Chemical Processing, Heat Treat, and/or Non-destructive Testing)  (EHM), metrology and use of Gauges, Computer Aided Drawing (CAD), Digital Product Definition (DPD) Model Based Definition (MBD), and/or Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO)
  • Presentation skills, Data Analytics, Training/Coaching Skill, Technical Writing and/or Root Cause Investigation
  • Prior military experience is preferred

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility (Basic relocation is available for internal candidates, based on candidate eligibility.)

Travel:

Position may require travel up to 75% of the time with 20% of travel requiring an overnight stay.
