Boeing Phantom Works Fixed Wing is seeking an Experienced Systems Engineer to join a diverse Systems Engineering & Integration Team (SEIT) to accomplish Systems Architecture & Design on an advanced proprietary development program in (St. Louis Metropolitan area) Berkley, MO.  The selected engineer will work within the SEIT to partner with Air Vehicle and Mission Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME) engineers to develop a complex and highly integrated system while embracing the program’s Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Digital Engineering strategy.  The program is a key part of Boeing's future and this team is paving the way for how future Boeing programs will operate by integrating cutting edge systems, processes, and tools into product design and lifecycle management.  You will make a difference!

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Developing Systems Architecture for Air Vehicle and Advanced Mission Systems
  • Synthesizing System Requirements to the Systems Architecture – including development, derivation, and integration of advanced system requirements to lower levels of the system.  Analyze and assess impacts of requirements changes and impact to meeting key objectives.
  • Creating Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for external and internal interfaces
  • Authoring verification planning activities including identifying verification methods and verification plans for analysis, inspections, demonstrations, simulations, and test for the system and lower levels of the system
  • Developing airworthiness and other important certification planning activities
  • Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE): execute Systems Engineering in a MBSE tool suite utilizing SysML modeling language to design the system

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim U.S Secret clearance post start is required.

This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • A minimum of 5 years of engineering work experience or equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g., PhD , Master+2 years’ related work experience).
  • 3+ years of systems engineering experience involving system architecture development, including system requirements, functional decomposition and allocation, integrated design, analysis, and verification.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools, such as CAMEO or similar Systems Modeling Language (SysML)-compatible tool for systems architecture and model development.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

  • Experience across technical domains and life cycle phases
  • Experience with Mission System and Weapon System development
  • Experience with verification and/or certification efforts
  • Experience developing and documenting architecture modeling techniques and best practices (e.g. Writing or contributing to MBSE Style Guides)

Typical Education and Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
