The Boeing Company is seeking a Lead Technical Data Designer to join the team at Hazelwood, MO. This position develops all publication elements for all levels of maintenance for a new or fielded major equipment system or multiple sub systems. Collects, researches and analyzes source data. Identifies source data inaccuracies and takes corrective action. Develops technical publication project plan, budget and baseline schedules. Conducts peer reviews of completed publication elements. Participates in or conducts customer technical and program reviews.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Research, develop, produce and update Technical Publications products.
  • Produce paper and electronic forms of media used during product operation and maintenance (e.g., operational information and checklists, maintenance information, wiring diagrams and flow schematics, field modification instructions, configuration specifications, etc.).
  • Develops all publication elements for all levels of maintenance for a new or fielded major equipment system or multiple sub systems.
  • Collects, researches and analyzes source data.
  • Identifies source data inaccuracies and takes corrective action.

This is a hybrid position that allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. secret clearance Post Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 2+ years' experience general working level knowledge of tactical aircraft avionics systems, subsystems, and components, to include flight controls, radar, communications and weapons, power distribution, etc. This includes the requirements, operating principles, design variables, performance, and key interfaces
  • 5+ years' experience with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access and Power Point)
  • 2+ years' experience using or authoring technical publications

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor Degree or higher
  • Experience supporting military aircraft platforms
  • Two years of experience in either military or civilian aircraft maintenance
  • Possess a high level of attention to detail and be capable of checking work of peers for technical accuracy and quality of the product before it leaves the group
  • 3+ years' experience using SGML or XML authoring software
  • 3+ years' experience authoring aircraft technical manuals and/or Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMS)
  • 3+ years' experience with reading and interpreting vendor data and Engineering drawings, 3D models, wiring diagrams, and interface control documents; in order to create schematics, fault isolation procedures, removal and installation procedures, and operational checkouts

Typical Education/ Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 6 or more years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+4 years’ related work experience, 10 years’ related work experience, etc.).
