The F/A-18 Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) team is seeking a Senior Complex Spares Project Engineer to support the F/A-18 Complex Spares Program in Hazelwood, MO. This position focuses on delivery of flight control surfaces to keep the F/A-18 fleet operating out to an airframe lifetime of 10,000 hours. This position will coordinate engineering activities in support of in-house production and supplier standup efforts. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills as well as the ability to facilitate teams to a technical consensus. Knowledge of manufacturing planning, tooling, and processes is highly desired.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leading an engineering IPT consisting of Design, Strength, Liaison, and Manufacturing Engineers

  • Working with suppliers to coordinate resolution of issues regarding design interpretation, tool usage, and manufacturing defects

  • Coordinating with production support engineering teams to prioritize needs

  • Lead Root Cause Corrective Action investigations

  • Coordinate Fleet Impact Assessments in the event of a Notice of Escape

  • Develop and track key performance indicators

  • Track and manage risks, issues, and opportunities

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years managing projects or leading teams

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Familiarity with manufacturing planning

  • Familiarity with production tooling

  • Familiarity with production processes such as First Article Inspection and Destruct Test Articles

  • Ability to read and interpret 2D drawings

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
