Boeing Commercial Airplanes in Everett and Renton, WA is seeking an Experienced Design & Analysis Engineer - Cabin, Network & Security Systems - Offboard Communication Team. Leads work with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical connectivity system requirements. Leads and coordinates work to analyze and translate requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications. Leads work to test and validate to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements. Oversees the team that monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements. Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle. Researches technology advances for potential application to company business needs. Makes recommendations for technology investments.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical oversight as a systems engineering lead for electronic systems pertaining to computer networking and wireless connectivity

  • Includes requirements development in DOORS, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) in Cameo/DESE, and integrated lab validation testing

  • Provide oversight as a product management lead for electronic systems

  • Includes engagements with customers and various internal stakeholders to identify product features, performing trade studies including business case justifications, authoring Concept of Operations (ConOps) documents and estimating statement of work

  • Provide oversight as a prototype lead engineer for electronic systems

  • Includes designing, building and testing prototype systems to evaluate future technologies, and securing and maintaining funding from various Product Development (PD) sources

  • Provide oversight as a Technical Services Agreement (TSA) lead engineer for In Flight Entertainment Connectivity (IFEC) systems

  • Includes overseeing DO-160 qualification testing, reviewing supplier technical documentation, overseeing aircraft system implementation and supporting aircraft certification activities

  • Enhance the knowledge of engineering teammates by teaching, mentoring and demonstrating a technical growth mindset

  • Demonstrated ability to engage successfully with management, technical fellows, teammates, suppliers, and customers

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

  • Strong familiarity with Systems Engineering tools, standards and processes

  • Experience successfully providing technical oversight for an entire development program from feature identification through entry into service

  • Existing knowledge of DO-160 and DO-178 hardware and software development tools, processes and standards

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Existing knowledge of PHY and MAC layer concepts, particularly in the areas of 3GPP (cellular) and IEEE 802.11 (Wi-Fi)

  • Experience with Cameo/DESE, DOORS, Jira and Confluence

  • Existing experience designing, building and testing prototype hardware and software

  • Experience with the Linux command line interface

  • Experience in both Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies

  • Experience in product management concepts and methodologies

  • Existing knowledge of REST, SOAP and SNMP protocols

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.  

Typical Education/ Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an Accredited

Course of Study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g.

Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation
