BR&T is seeking a Principal Materials and Processes Engineer to join our team in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of cross functional projects - Including test plan development, budget and schedule creation and management, coordination with external customers

  • Support production with existing repair process/ technology and transition technology improvements to production

  • Present project results and technologies to internal and external groups

  • Strong track record of mentoring, employee development, and knowledge sharing

  • Develop/improve the processes and materials used in the repair of composite and metallic aircraft structure

  • Provide technical support for repairs occurring in service.

  • Guide future vision for structural repair technology research and development.

  • Perform structural testing to develop allowables for repairs, and assess the impact of process changes on structural capability

  • Desire to perform hands on Lab work, Fabrication of composites, traditional and experimental repair of composites, Assembly of large-scale demonstrators

This position allows some telecommuting; however onsite work will be required at the listed location option.  

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.  

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 10+ years of aircraft repair experience

  • 5+ years of technical lead experience

  • 7+ years of composites experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Materials testing and qualification experience

  • Mentoring and training experience

  • Structural analysis experience

  • CRDA and SIBR experience

Typical Education/Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
