The Boeing Company is currently seeking a K level Software Manager to join a dynamic and high-achieving team of software engineers in the Vehicle Simulation Software organization within Training Systems for the Oklahoma City, OK location. The management position will support the ASC2 (AWACS/AEW&C) and KC-46 ground and training systems. The selected candidate will manage employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Operating System (Linux & Windows) configuration and software/systems integration on target systems. Also, the selected candidate will have to engage engineers to meet customer demand when they are facing challenges with their systems, provide system administration support on all the systems to meet security policies, create solutions to schedule challenges and able to work in a fast paced work environment where quality, execution and demand are critical for all the different customers.

This person will be responsible for leading a team of SW engineers that follow an agile methodology to plan, implement and deliver properly configured computing hardware with the required software to the external customer.  Will need to work closely with peers to maintain a cohesive engineering team with a shared vision. Support the Vehicle Simulation Capability in a shared vision of common architect, tools and processes.


Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Software Engineering and Systems Integration. Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals. Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements. Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes. Manages, develops and motivates employees.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of software engineers to develop, load, integrate, test, maintain and improve software and systems.
  • Accountable for the cost, schedule and quality of the work that the team produces.
  • Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures.
  • Provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals and objectives.
  • Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees.
  • Provide periodic updates to senior management in the form of progress reports, project summaries, and other related documents.
  • Must foster an innovative work environment leading to identification of opportunities for improvements in product, process, quality, and productivity.

Security Clearance:

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 1+ years of experience in software development project management
  • 3+ years of experience in software systems integration
  • Experience in leadership either formally or informally leading teams
  • 1+ years of experience as a CAM (cost account manager) in EVM (earned value management

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience working on US AWACS platforms
  • 1+ years of experience in engineering management or technical management
  • 3+ years of experience with Scaled Agile Framework enterprise (SAFe) or Agile in general
  • 3+ years of experience in the development and design of aircraft simulation and/or training devices

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location option. (Oklahoma City, OK.)

Travel:

Occasional travel (10%) may be required in support of the program and customer.
