The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking a Lead Phantom Works Dynamics and Loads Engineer located in Saint Charles, MO. The selected candidate will be responsible to lead a team of loads and dynamics engineers in the development of loads, dynamics analysis, test planning and testing in support various Phantom Works programs.  The candidate will have the ability to interact with structural and flight sciences subject matter experts, government customers and industry partners to bring the next generation of hypersonic weapons and projectiles to reality.  The candidate will also be integral in planning and executing ground based dynamics and flight testing.

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop, integrate and documents structural requirements to establish the system design

  • Coordinate with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment. Guides product design and verifies structural integrity by using and developing analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance

  • Lead development of test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications

  • Define and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied

  • Support in-service products by leading investigations into failures and analyzing improvements

  • Develop analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort

  • Work under minimal direction

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

.This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • Experience with loads, vibration, and shock requirements development

  • 3+ years’ experience developing aerospace primary or secondary structural loads

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years’ experience in Structural Loads and Dynamics

  • 3+ years’ experience in CAD systems (CATIA/UG)

  • Previous experience working on a weapon program

  • 5+ years’ experience with structural dynamics analysis and testing

  • 5+ years’ experience working with finite element models / simulations using one or more of the following: PATRAN, NASTRAN, ABAQUS, ANSYS, Hypermesh, LS-Dyna, Optistruct

  • 5+ years’ experience working with vibration and acoustic testing

  • 5+ years’ experience establishing relationships and maintaining strong on-going communication with customers, suppliers and/or vendors

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
