The Boeing Company, Business Development organization has an outstanding opportunity for a qualified Business Development, International Capture Team Lead (level 5).

Boeing is seeking an Experienced International Capture Team Lead within the Global Business Development Function. This individual will report to the Senior Manager, Global Business Development for the F/A-18E/F and EA-18G team. The successful candidate will be required to develop win strategies and execute campaign plans that lead to international growth and sales for the F/A-18E/F and EA-18G platforms.

This individual will interface with a diverse and geographically dispersed team of Business Development professionals around the globe. The individual will work closely with the Regional Business Development team and F/A-18E/F and EA-18G International Program Managers to ensure alignment of our platform to meet customer needs. The selected individual will have an understanding of prioritizing customer requirements, driving the product development process to meet customer needs, understanding the customer acquisition processes and budget cycles, influencing the opportunities the team pursues, and ensuring the proposals the team submits are executable, profitable, and meet price to win.

The individual will manage internal processes to include strategic business planning, New Business Fund (NBF) planning and execution, and all requirements of Boeing's Integrated Business Acquisition Process (IBAP), as well as manage the administrative requirements associated with being a Capture Team Lead. The individual should be knowledgeable of Direct Commercial Sales (DCS), Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and Cooperative Programs processes, as well as International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). The individual can expect to travel both domestically and internationally in this position. Successful candidates will possess a record of outstanding performance in positions with ever-increasing responsibility.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting international growth through the development strategic industry alliances and partnerships, industrial strategies and offset proposals supporting international sales campaigns with projected contract awards over the next five years.  The industrial strategies and offset proposals are a key element in winning campaigns internationally
  • Utilizes detailed understanding of both customer and Boeing needs and resources to recommend areas of alignment and integration.
  • Leads assigned sales and campaign activities by contributing to the development of strategies and tactics with minimal guidance.
  • Leverages company resources to support customer commitments, gain a competitive advantage, and foster business growth by developing a detailed understanding of specific Boeing products and services, process and operations, and resources.
  • Researches, reviews and analyzes information about competitors' products and services to develop a detailed understanding of specific competitor activities and their impact on market positioning to improve our competitive position.
  • Networks with both internal and external resources, when applicable. Assists in the interface with the customer and internal Boeing resources to keep both apprised of key issues and concerns.
  • Gathers and analyzes relevant information (e.g., political environment and competitive assessment) from internal and external sources to support strategy development and alignment across the Boeing enterprise.

This position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at Berkeley, MO or Arlington, VA.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 2+ years of experience in running a new business campaign as a capture team leader or capture manager
  • The Ability to act as a liaison between business stakeholders and subject matter experts. Excellent customer service skills, with an advanced understanding of relationship building. Able to deal with ambiguity: can effectively cope with change; can shift gears comfortably; can decide and act without having the total picture; can comfortably handle risk and uncertainty. Exceptional influence without authority and excellent collaboration skills
  • Experience working with the foreign military sales (FMS) and direct commercial sales (DCS) process
  • Experience leading Business Development or Strategic Partnership development activities internationally
  • Experience interfacing with internal and external leadership
  • Experience in cross-functional leadership, collaborative problem solving, building lasting relationships & proficiency in written and verbal communication
  • Effective communication, organizational and team oriented skills
  • Experience completing process oriented tasks accurately and in an organized manner

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with the US Navy/Department of Defense (DoD) requirements, budgeting and acquisition processes
  • Familiarity with Naval Aviation, Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), and Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV).
  • Familiar with Legislative Processes
  • Experience in strategy, business planning, or market analysis
  • 3+ years of experience leading teams or projects, especially cross functional teams
  • 3+ years of experience of leading, or participating in program captures
  • 3+ years of experience working with external customers in decision-making positions
  • Knowledge of established policies and procedures associated with program capture, specifically gate review processes
  • 3+ years of experience in strategic growth

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience, 18 years' related work experience, etc.).
