Boeing Defense Space & Security has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Electrical Systems Design Engineer to join us as part of our Space & Launch Avionics Components team Located in Huntsville, AL.

The Engineer will work in an Office and with the team on the procurement of Avionics components that will be installed in critical locations throughout the Space Launch System.

This is a position that will be lead by a Technical Lead Engineer with extensive mentoring skills. The responsibilities include writing requirements documents, working with suppliers all the way from initial award of the contract to ultimately delivery of products to the production team for installation on the rocket. The Engineer will be expected to interface closely with the Boeing team, with the customer NASA and with the supplier.

Position Responsibilities

  • Assists with the development and documentation of electronic and electrical system requirements.
  • Develops requirements documents for suppliers and works with Boeing and NASA documents and personnel to complete the documentation. 
  • Completed Technical reviews of supplier proposals and woks with the Boeing and NASA team to assist the supplier from kickoff to Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews, Qualification Testing and ultimate delivery for installation.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically and/or Internationally depending on business needs.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.
  • Meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.
  • Are local or willing to locate at your own expense.
  • Degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • 1+ year of experience with systems engineering

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • Electrical Engineering Degree

Typical Education/Experience

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
