The Boeing Company is seeking an Associate Software Quality Engineer (SQE) to join our Autonomous Systems Team based out of Hazelwood, MO.

Our team of highly-motivated, customer-focused engineers partner with BDS programs to develop and maintain a culture of first-time quality throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC). As a member of this team, you have the autonomy and responsibility to work with programs to assure the right processes for developing, controlling, and verifying software products are planned and complied with, while effectively improving the quality of our software products – whether developed by Boeing or provided by suppliers.

A broad background in software development practices, tools, and processes is required to be successful in this position. Experience with Agile and knowledge of quality standards (e.g. AS9115) is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will be a team player, self-motivated, and able to quickly learn the responsibilities of the position. Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills, are crucial for success.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Defines and maintains program level software quality engineering processes

  • Actively participates in program activities, from initial proposal and planning to verification/certification and delivery

  • Verifies software lifecycle activities and products comply with approved software processes, plans, and standards

  • Prepares and presents information at program review meetings

  • Verifies that product testing is done to meet product requirements

  • Performs final reconciliation of software data products

  • Identifies process or product non-compliances; supports root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions and other defect investigation/prevention activities

  • Teams with equipment managers of supplier products to monitor and evaluate supplier software development performance

  • Acts as an independent set of eyes and ears for Program Managers and the customer, highlighting potential best practices on the team, as well as areas for improvement

  • Supports the identification and analysis of program/project software quality metrics to improve software quality and manage risk

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry, or other relevant technical field

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Software quality engineering experience supporting software with AS9115, DO-178, and/or MIL-STD-882E requirements

  • Experience with Software Development lifecycle processes (including Requirements Analysis, Design, Code, Integration & Test)

  • Experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS)

  • Experience with products developed using Agile software development practices

Typical Education/Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor+1 years' related work experience, 5 years' related work experience, etc.).

Relocation:
