The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking an RF Lead Electrical Design and Analysis Engineer located in Huntsville, AL.

The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting complex RF analyses for the Space Launch Systems program (core stage and upper stage).  The Space Launch System will be the most powerful rocket ever built and will be used to support deep space missions for manned and autonomous exploration. 

The engineer will be responsible for acting as a program subject matter expert in the RF field and will be responsible for driving the integration and test activities for both Telemetry and Guidance Navigation & Control RF systems.  The candidate will work in partnership with additional integrators and box-level responsible engineers to validate overall design of the RF subsystems meet the design requirements.  The candidate will be required to provide rotational support to our test facilities at Redstone Arsenal to support Avionics Qualification Testing as well as our production test activities being performed at Michoud Assembly Facility. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads work with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements.
  • Leads and coordinates work to analyze and translate requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications.
  • Leads work to test and validate to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.
  • Oversees the team that monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.
  • Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
  • Researches technology advances for potential application to company business needs.
  • Makes recommendations for technology investments.

This position allows telecommuting.  The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • Candidate should demonstrate at least 5 years of experience with RF systems and/or complex avionics systems with RF components.
  • Candidate should demonstrate at least 5 years of experience working with integration, test, and verification of box, subsystem, and/or system requirements.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with one or more of the following: Matlab, C, C++, Python, Java, Linux, FEKO and STK.
  • Familiarity with range safety systems would be desirable.
  • Experience with cyber and/or encryption methodologies would be desirable.

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically XX or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:
