Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking an Experienced Mechanical and Structural Analysis Engineer to join the team in North Charleston, SC.  The analysis engineer will be an integral member of the Propulsion South Carolina team, providing structural analysis support and solutions to a wide ranging list of programs, projects and components. This position is hybrid and will require the candidate to be onsite 2-3 days a week.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops, integrates and documents structural requirements to establish the system design.
  • Guides product design and verifies structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performs basic structural analysis using well defined analysis tools to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance.
  • Supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.
  • Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.
  • Investigates emerging technologies to develop future product designs to meet projected requirements.
  • Works under general supervision.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience): 

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 1+ years of experience with aerospace stress analysis and/or structural analysis
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Preferred Qualification (Desired Skills / Experience):

  • 1+ years of experience using NASTRAN/PATRAN or similar FEM software to perform structural analysis on aircraft or space structures
  • 1+ years of experience of basic hand calculations
  • 1+ years of experience of load paths with the ability to generate free body diagram
  • 1+ years of experience understanding of material properties
  • Experience with Boeing tools such as CSW & XSA

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
