The Boeing Company is seeking a Mid-Level Environmental Sustainability – Conservation Focal based out of Everett, Washington.   

This individual will be part of Boeing’s Global Enterprise Sustainability team and will be identifying, implementing and enabling the replication of conservation best practices to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, energy, water and waste from operations; reduction opportunities could include projects, process improvements and behavior changes.

Position Responsibilities:

This position requires coordination across multiple business units and functions. The ideal candidate will have the following skills & qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience working on environmental sustainability issues, challenges and opportunities in a large manufacturing setting, and company and industry strategies for addressing them
  • Subject matter expertise in identifying, implementing and enabling sites to replicate conservation best practices to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, energy, water and waste from operations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to leverage social marketing principles to develop, implement and manage programs to foster sustainable behaviors in a large, diverse and global manufacturing setting
  • Proactive team building skills and strong working together attitude to balance multiple stakeholder interests while advancing initiatives across the enterprise
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to create, deliver and share persuasive presentations to represent and influence environmental sustainability with internal stakeholders
  • Experience developing, implementing and managing large-scale, employee-facing initiatives; including orientation and training, education events, gamification of conservation, Earth Day, Green Teams, recognition and community volunteering
  • Exceptional ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously using project management best practices
  • Strong data analytic skills and the ability to research, benchmark and analyze current trends, technologies and best practices to drive efficient operations
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, result-oriented

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor Degree or higher
  • Experience implementing energy, water and waste reduction projects
  • Experience developing conservation programs  
  • 3+ years of experience creating presentations and presenting to various levels within an organization, including senior leaders 
  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Suite

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Currently hold or have held an active U.S. Security Clearance in the past 24 months
  • Exceptional skills in developing and implementing effective behavior change initiatives and identifying and implementing conservation opportunities at a large, globally diverse manufacturing company 
  • Experience in sustainability
  • Experience in aviation

Typical Education/Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
