Boeing Defense and Space Systems (BDS) is growing in the area of spacecraft avionics subsystem design, development, integration and test and is looking for a motivated and talented Experienced Flight Control Systems Engineer to join the Boeing team in this exciting business area located in El Segundo, CA.

Selected candidates will support the development of complex solutions on advanced next generation spacecraft technologies. Engineers will experience the full lifecycle of satellite development from: requirements definition and flow down, algorithm design and analysis, system hardware integration, software validation, development of satellite operating procedure, and support satellite operations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrating technical parameters and assuring compatibility of physical, functional and program interfaces.
  • Performing various analyses to optimize overall spacecraft architecture.
  • Supporting trade studies to meet program requirements.
  • Supporting the resolution of technical issues and ensuring the spacecraft and system solutions are flight worthy prior to delivery.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Work Authorization:

This position requires a current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required) or requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.      

                                 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher.
  • 3+ years of experience in Electrical, Aerospace, Industrial, and/or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience working on space, launch vehicle, or satellite programs.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with Systems Engineering processes and tools.
  • Experience with Satellite design and test.
  • Experience with vehicle attitude control sensors and effectors
  • Experience working with MATLAB and VBA tool development.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Note: Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.
