The Boeing Company (“Boeing”) is seeking a Paralegal to join the Law Department within the Law and Global Compliance organization in Huntsville, AL.

This role will provide paralegal and administrative support to the Senior Attorney supporting the Missile and Weapons Systems division, and will also provide support to the Senior Attorney supporting the Space and Launch Exploration division of Boeing Defense, Space and Security. The position is in direct support of a dynamic and exciting business environment with opportunities for advancement.

The ideal candidate will have outstanding people skills; the ability to work with a wide range of personalities and practice groups via telephone, e-mail, and in-person contact; be a team player; have a combination of perseverance and an ability to navigate through multiple layers of a complex organization like Boeing. The selected individual will also have the ability to exercise sound judgment, experience with prioritizing and executing a high-volume caseload, and a desire to keep learning in an ever-changing environment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with in-house counsel, senior paralegals, outside counsel and company personnel to conduct Information Integrity Investigations (Passport matters) and Contract Closeout requests

  • Coordinate with in-house counsel, senior paralegals, outside counsel and company personnel to assist with Proprietary Information Agreements (PIAs), Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, and third-party subpoenas

  • Perform legal research

  • Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, to convey, obtain, and exchange information with individuals at all levels and from various backgrounds

  • Provide administrative support to the Missiles and Weapons Systems attorney, including activities such as screening telephones for incoming calls and fielding those calls by taking messages, calendar management, travel planning and expense reporting, scheduling and coordinating meetings with internal and external entities, and other tasks as needed

  • Must be self-motivated, cooperative, capable of meeting deadlines, organized, and process and detail-oriented

  • Must work well in a team environment with colleagues and clients spread across multiple time zones

  • Perform team and/or department-orientated tasks, projects, and activities as assigned

  • Local travel to attend meetings or other business-related functions

  • Other administrative support to paralegals, attorneys, and/or provide back-up to other Legal Administrators as may be needed

  • Use of personal vehicle for local travel, with reimbursement of related costs; and occasional domestic travel via common carrier may be required

  • Take initiative and work with general oversight by more senior paralegals and attorneys

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. Majority of the work will be performed on-site.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Associate degree or paralegal certificate from an accredited university

  • 1+ years of paralegal experience in a law firm, corporate law department or government legal setting

  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft office suite

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor degree or higher

  • Experience working independently and handling given assignments with minimal oversight by attorneys and/or lead paralegals

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Cooperative, positive, and have a team-oriented attitude

  • Proficiency with SharePoint set-up, WebEx set up and records management systems

  • Experience in the handling and safeguarding of proprietary and confidential information also preferred with the highest level of confidentiality and discretion

  • Capable of working occasional overtime

  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat

  • Experience with government contracts

Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through basic education (e.g. High School diploma/GED) and typically 4 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. vocational school/Associate+2 years' related work, Bachelor, etc.).

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
