The Boeing Company is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to support the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler Programs in the St. Louis, MO area. 

This position is responsible for leading program technical planning and integration across the Systems Engineering (SE) organization as well as the other Engineering and Logistics organizations. This position ensures the horizontal (technical design and integration management) flow between the IPT groups occurs and provides continuity between the different program contracts. This position is empowered to guide and direct the SE effort, which includes tailoring existing SE processes/procedures to meet the needs of the supported F/A-18E/F and EA-18G Programs and implementation and refinement of MBSE as required.

The desired candidate should be knowledgeable in a breadth of Systems Engineering skills (i.e. Integrated Master Plans, SEMP, design reviews, FCA/PCA, risks/issues/opportunities (RIO), requirements management, verification, etc), and be able to guide, coach and mentor engineers in SE processes and procedures across the program. The candidate should also be an authoritative expert in Systems Engineering.  The candidate should be able to communicate technical issues to a wide range of internal and external technical and non-technical personnel. 

The position will directly support MBSE application with the F/A-18E/F and EA-18G programs.

This position will allow telecommuting, but may transition to being onsite full time.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage the systems engineering effort for all items of supplies.

  • Assists Program Mgt. concerning planning, technical, schedule, and contract issues.

  • Leads integration efforts of the different Systems Engineering (SE) groups (i.e., rqts. mgt., config. mgt., data mgt., risk mgt., safety, reliability & maintainability, etc) and cross functional disciplines (i.e., design groups, equipment eng., retrofit, quality, logistics, support equip., flight test, etc.)

  • Provides oversight along with implementation of MBE/MBSE as required

  • Works with the appropriate IPT groups to resolve technical and procedural issues.

  • Provide technical feedback, information, and instruction for problem resolution to lower grade engineers and the customer as needed.

  • Ensure system interfaces, internal and external, are properly defined, designed, managed, and verified.

  • Ensures system design complies with the approved system requirements.

  • Manages the Systems Engineering contractual duties, responsibilities, and deliverables to budget and schedule.

  • Ensures system documentation (performance, test plans, engineering management plan, etc.) is accurate, complete, and is consistent with the design implementation and program philosophy.

  • Help review and evaluate Engineering Change Proposals/Change Documents to determine SE effort and develop Basis of Estimates (BOE) for proposals.

This position requires an Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

  • 3+ years’ experience in Project Management and/or technical integration.

  • 3+ years’ experience in Systems Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Knowledge of military and FAA airworthiness, qualification and certification and MBE/MBSE tools (i.e. DOORS, CAMEO). 

  • Knowledgeable in Systems Engineering skills or best practices.

  • Experience with Model Based Engineering tools and languages.

  • Experience with Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System (DOORS).
