Boeing Global Services BGS is seeking a Mid-Level Test & Evaluation Engineer in Huntsville, AL.  

In this role you will lead Ground Test Campaigns pertaining to the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) as the Test Manager for hardware in the loop and distributed ground test events.  Lead and support multi-disciplinary teams in the development of standard test methods and processes to plan and execute tests in the ground test labs in Huntsville and while deployed for distributed testing in the field. Oversees the integration of new GMD capabilities for test. Analyzes processes for potential improvements and recommends associated changes. Resolves or oversees resolution of test issues/anomalies and special test procedures.  

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Integrated Event Test team lead, which includes coordination with Integrated Product Team members, customers, and subcontractors.

  • Directs others in performing ground tests in accordance with approved test plan/procedure and applicable policies.

  • Prepares reports/briefings and coordinates with customers, peers, and management to understand requirements and challenges in the development of complex ground test campaigns.

  • Test planning, integration, and execution to ensure component and system readiness for fielding.

  • Develops and documents standardized test methods and processes to ensure repeatability and productivity.

  • Leads the development of test procedures and test execution checklists. Captures and applies lessons learned to improve test documentation and processes.

  • Leads weekly Integrated Event Team meetings and conducts ground test reviews, including test readiness and break of configuration reviews.

  • Initiates trouble shooting and documents, submits, and tracks test issues/anomalies during integration activities and formal test runs.

  • Produces a test event schedule to include planning, integration, execution, and analysis activities for integration into the program schedule.

  • Develops Daily Status Reports to summarize test activities, document test runs executed, and report any issues or test anomalies.

  • Coordinates for resolution of open issues and submittal of Acceptable Conditions for test.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering related field (ie. Computer Science, Systems Engineering)

  • Experience leading technical teams or complex programs with successful outcome

  • Able to travel 10% of the time

   

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with the Ballistic Missile Defense System, Ground-based Midcourse Defense program and/or the Missile Defense Agency

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor’s) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master’s) and typically 3 or more years’ related work experience.
