The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking an Experienced Satellite Digital Signal Processing Subsystems and Algorithms Engineer located in El Segundo, CA. The Space and Launch Team creates the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. We work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Our team focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers.  Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.

The Experienced Satellite DSP Subsystems and Algorithms Engineer will be a part of a high-performing team that are immersed in high intensity development projects. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to will design and develop state-of-the-art, space-based communication systems for commercial, civil and/or national security programs. This position will work with a highly-motivated team that works with domestic or international customers on their latest satellite systems. Project assignments typically span over the unit life cycle, from internal trades, concept studies and system definition, to satellite unit development and test. This role will be a part of our systems engineering team interacting with customers, suppliers, program management, integration and test engineers, and senior technologists. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Designing and developing next generation RF and digital satellite communication systems

  • Developing and verifying multi-rate, fixed-point signal processing algorithms

  • Conducting performance analysis of signal processing models

  • Performing waveform development and characterization

  • Performing trade studies

  • Supporting integration ant test of our payloads and spacecraft from unit level through in-orbit operations

  • Supporting HDL-level design and verification

  • Performing detailed system design and verification activities

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires an active/current U.S. Security Clearance with successful completion of a Tier 5 Investigation (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 3+ years of experience in digital signal processing

  • 3+ years of experience with Matlab and/or Simulink

  • 1+ years of experience in systems engineering concepts (requirements definition, allocation, verification, architecture design and trade design)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working with ASICs or FPGAs

  • Experience with performance characteristics of analog electronics or data converters (ADCs / DACs)

  • Experience with digital/RF lab equipment (oscilloscope, signal generator, spectrum analyzer)

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
