Boeing Defense Space & Security has an exciting opportunity for a Entry-Level Mission Systems Software Engineer to join us as part of our AEWC SW development team located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Boeing OKC supports the following platforms; Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) for US, Saudi and NATO, Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEWC) for Australia, Turkey, United Kingdom and Korea, B-1 Strike Bomber, B-2 Stealth Bomber, B-52 Heavy Bomber, and the ALCM weapon.  These platforms continue to be updated to keep them relevant and supportive of emerging military systems.  Upgrades include state-of-the-art radar systems, hyper-sonic weapons systems, and cutting-edge digital communication infrastructure.

Our team is multi-skilled team that uses the AGILE SAFE method to develop, test and field Tactical Mission Systems in a rapid environment. Our team is a collection of highly skilled and focused individuals that each contribute at the top of their skill to exciting and fun projects.  We are looking for a few like minded individuals to join this environment and help support our mission.

The software engineer will have an excellent opportunity to experience the entire software lifecycle while building the newest airborne platforms in the international AEWC fleet.  This position will provide the candidate an opportunity to develop engineering skills with potential growth into a leadership role.  The candidate may travel internationally to support software deployment and flight testing as required by the customer.  Additionally, the Mission System Software Team works collaboratively with engineers at many Boeing sites and suppliers to develop and integrate mission systems capabilities into the AEWC fleet.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develops, documents and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.
  • Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system.
  • Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met.
  • Performs software project management and software supplier management functions.
  • Develops, selects, tailors and deploys software processes, tools and metrics.
  • Executes and documents software research and development projects.
  • Works under general direction.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical degree
  • 1+ years of experience with C++ design, coding and test
  • Experience in software engineering

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Experience working on an Agile Team
  • Experience working with airborne radars or data links
  • Experience working with distributed computing systems
  • Experience working in a collaborative environment
  • Team leadership experience

Typical Education/Experience

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
