Boeing Global Talent Acquisition is currently looking for Lead Artificial Intelligence R&D Technologists to join our Intelligent Solutions team in Tukwila, WA. These positions will focus on supporting the Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) organization.

The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a distributed (and international) team. Many projects are multi-year and end with the successful transition and integration of new capabilities to Boeing end product development/deployment. Project work can be funded by Independent Research and Development, Contracted Research and Development, or support to a business unit.

A successful candidate will be highly motivated with coding experience, data understanding, and machine learning knowledge. They will lead the research and development (R&D) as well as the rapid prototyping of advanced computing technologies for aerospace products and services. They will have broad knowledge of data analysis algorithms including data mining/analysis, various statistical techniques, machine learning, text mining, natural language processing, graph theory and data visualization to analyze, predict, infer, extract and understand data/information. They will use various data tools and technologies such as Python, R, SQL, Teradata, Tableau, Gephi and Airflow to make informed decisions, drive customer solutions and make recommendations to Senior/Executive Leadership. They will be comfortable in taking initiative, learning by experience, possess an interest in personal learning, seek feedback from others, and create innovative ideas. They will get great satisfaction in applying and engineering solutions that will work in the real world.

Position Responsibilities:

Develops advanced software and models for aerospace products and services
Adapts and integrates various software packages into workable prototypes
Designs, applies, and crafts new algorithms, methods, and tools addressing project requirements
Participates in the software development and machine learning development processes
Evaluates performance of algorithms as well as general ability to select and apply algorithms to meet application requirements with respect to scalability
Collects, prioritizes, synthesizes, and analyzes data; summarizes findings; develops conclusions and recommendations
Includes the ability to integrate application components and databases across computing platforms
Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity
Works independently and mentors entry level team members
Leverages knowledge of Artificial Intelligence approaches and techniques
Optimally communicates results to teammates and customers
Demonstrates an interest in personal learning and development
Seeks feedback from multiple sources to improve and develop
Comfortable in taking initiative and learning by experience

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

7 or more years of experience developing and deploying software programs
Fluent in developing and evaluating learned models
Seasoned with preparing data to create learned models with tools such as SQL, Teradata, Tableau, Gephi and Airflow
In-depth knowledge of scripting languages for prototyping such as Python, MATLAB
Exceptional skillset with programming languages such a C++, C, Java

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or similar
Experience with software frameworks such as Robot Operating System (ROS)
Experience with Linux OS
Experience with machine learning libraries, such as TensorFlow, Keras or PyTorch
Experience with machine learning techniques, such as Support Vector Machines, Heuristics, Neural Nets, Markov Decision
Experience with Machine Learning development and deployment pipeline, i.e. from data to model
Knowledge of data structure, numerical optimization and algorithm complexity
Experience with Agile methodology and repositories, such as JIRA and Git

Typical Education & Experience:

Typically 9 or more years' related work or military experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. Advanced degree (e.g. Bachelor, Master, etc.) preferred, but not required.
