Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Engineering Customer Support is seeking a 787 Operations Control Center (OCC) First Line Manager to support customers on a 24/7 basis and lead a team that operates on a variable shift and rotation schedule.

This position will be leading and supporting a multi-skill team that develops structural and systems solutions for the Customer to keep their airplanes flying. This position entails supporting a team in the actual creation of the solutions by eliminating obstacles and facilitating collaboration across teams to engage a diverse pool of experts to best resolve technical and business issues. This position consists of understanding the operational impact of solutions provided by Boeing and connecting the Boeing team with the Customers' situational requirements. This position has some travel to integrate with customers, suppliers, and other organizations.

This position is expected to be Hybrid. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Primary role is to manage engineers and techs in the 787 Operations Control Center (OCC) developing airframe structural repairs and providing troubleshooting systems issue guidance for the Boeing Commercial Airplane Customer Support Engineering division.
  • Requires experience with engineering tools and processes for Boeing commercial airplane models. Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals.
  • Works with functional and business unit management to acquire resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
  • Interfaces directly with external customers including airlines, Maintenance & Repair Overhaul (MRO) stations, Lessors, etc. to clarify technical requirements and issues.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees.
  • Coaches, counsels, mentors and provides developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities.
  • This position consists of understanding the operational impact of solutions provided by Boeing and connecting the Boeing team with the Customers' situational requirements.
  • Engages and empowers employees to make process improvements.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience directly and indirectly supporting airline customers and suppliers
  • 3+ years of experience managing projects and utilizing standard project management tools
  • Experience leading teams including cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work and function in a 24x7 by 365 operational environment

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Technical degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience dealing with and solving airline customer technical questions and issues
  • Experience performing aircraft maintenance at an airline, delivery center, or flight test
  • Analytical skills with the understanding of design concepts & technologies, and engineering processes
