The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking an Associate Structural Analysis Engineer located in New Orleans, LA. The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting detailed structural analysis and to provide solutions to key challenges for the Space Launch System (SLS) program, as well as provide support to multiple commercial and government programs in.

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Performs basic structural analysis using well defined analysis tools to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance.

  • Supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.

  • Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.

  • Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.

  • Works under general supervision.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 1+ years of experience using NASTRAN/PATRAN or similar FEM software to perform structural analysis on aircraft or space structures.

  • 1+ years of experience with structural analysis methods and repair principles (e.g., fatigue and corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, repair techniques, damage tolerance methods used in maintenance programs).

  • Willing to work variable shifts, including weekends and overtime.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience on space, launch vehicle, and/or aircraft programs.

  • Experience in NASA Space programs or a related Space or Defense program.

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility. Access to the facility requires a background investigation by U.S. Government authorities.
