Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior Business Development Representative (Level 5) in Kent, WA.

This individual will lead the capture of new business for proprietary and non-proprietary Government and potentially commercial pursuits for Phantom Works (PW) Space Systems. The Senior Business Development Representative will be accountable for leading sales and campaign activities as a Capture Team Leader (CTL) in accordance with the Boeing Integrated Business Acquisition Process (IBAP).

The space market is complex and evolving rapidly; as a CTL, you will be integral in developing and supporting new business capture campaigns and leading cross disciplinary teams focusing on space systems. Bring your knowledge of satellite systems (capabilities, design, development, and operations of systems), government acquisition processes, the industrial base and supply chain, and knowledge of the space government customer community to aid you in integrating numerous engineering disciplines with sales and marketing.  Customer focus, along with good interpersonal, leadership, and management skills are critical for this role.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead sales and campaign activities and develop associated specific campaign documentation including campaign strategy and tactics from in-depth knowledge of customer needs, Boeing products and services, and competitive environment
  • Foster and grow customer relationships to be accepted as a trusted business partner
  • Identify future business opportunities and promote the value of Boeing portfolio and partnership
  • Seek out new and adjacent opportunities and markets, design capture plans, produce winning proposals and grow new business
  • Gather and analyzes relevant information (e.g., political environment and competitive assessment) from internal and external sources to support strategy development and alignment across the Boeing enterprise
  • Orchestrate the development of customer solutions by performing analysis of customer needs and available resources
  • Leverage company resources to support customer commitments, gain a competitive advantage, and foster business growth by developing a detailed understanding of specific Boeing products and services, process and operations, and resources
  • Leverage detailed understanding of the customers' processes, procedures, techniques, organizations and culture-specific knowledge of US Department of Defense (DoD) operations, tactics and acquisition
  • Consult and influence decisions of Boeing senior level executives regarding business goals and objectives
  • Guide the successful completion of varying aspects of major programs and may function in a project leadership role
  • Support preparation of winning proposals products including development of themes and discriminators, executive summary, reviewing the statement of work, cost estimates, and pricing to ensure customer requirements are met and to improve our competitive position

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Kent, WA.


This position requires an active Top Secret/SCI U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • 5+ years of experience in Space/Satellite systems
  • Experience in running a new business campaign as a capture team leader or capture manager
  • 1+ year of experience working with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and other government customers
  • 5+ years of experience leading and partnering with cross-functional teams, involving key stakeholder relationship management
  • Ability to travel up to 25% domestically


Preferred qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • Bachelors of Science in technical field
  • MBA or Equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience in the Aerospace Industry
  • 5+ years of experience working with Military or Department of Defense (DoD) customers
  • Experience interfacing directly with senior military officials and executives
  • Experience with research and development (R&D) programs
  • Detailed understanding of United States Air Force (USAF) Space and Missile Center (SMC), Air Force Research Labs (AFRL), and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) initiatives and emerging mission needs
  • Thorough understanding of the Government (political) / Defense Requirements and Acquisition processes

Typical Education/Experience

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master +12 years' related work experience, 18 years' related work experience, etc.).

Travel:

Position may require travel up to 25% of the time.
