Boeing Defense Space & Security has an exciting opportunity for a T-7 Experienced Flight Test Conductor  to join us as part of our T-7A Red Hawk program System Test team located in St. Louis, MO, with travel required to Edwards Air Force Base in the Las Angeles, CA area.

The position will involve working on the initial T-7A EMD program. This program is tasked by the U.S. Air Force customer to produce the next-generation training jet. There is currently an opportunity for an Experienced Flight Test Engineer who will perform flight test program planning and execution, which will include many aspects of flight sciences and mission systems.

The successful candidate will lead test conduct through coordination of flight test operations with the various functions and support groups in the organization (Flight Operations; Flight Test Operations; Instrumentation & Data Systems - Test Software & Telemetry, System Design & Development, System Design, Installation Design, and Operations; Fabrication and Assembly).

This position will require some travel and a domestic temporary assignment (DTA) to Edwards Air Force base to support flight test execution. Position will start in St. Louis and later transfer on DTA to Edwards Air Force Base to support flight test execution for +/- 1 year based on business needs. Afterwards, will work out of St. Louis. Details regarding location and DTA may be discussed with qualified applicants.

Position Responsibilities

  • Supports the development and verification of test methods
  • Develops detailed test procedures, and instrumentation and configuration definition, needed to perform the test and minimize risk within the constraints of the test plan
  • Performs detailed planning and execution of aircraft ground and flight test
  • Reviews test data, including off-nominal data, for accuracy, quality and/or fidelity prior to delivery to customer
  • Prepares and publishes test reports to document test results and satisfy requirements
  • Presents test results internally
  • Archives data and reports

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Berkeley, MO, and at Edwards Air Force Base near Los Angeles, CA.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • A Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 1+ years of experience in planning and conducting system level lab, ground, or flight testing

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • 3+ years of experience with the principles of flight, lab, or ground test OR experience directly supporting flight test operations
  • 1+ years of experience performing tactical aircraft flight testing (planning and/or executing in a control room environment)
  • 1+ years of experience directly interfacing with customers and senior program leadership
  • 1+ years of experience developing detailed test points from system level specification requirements, test planning, execution and reporting test results

Typical Education/Experience

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
