The Boeing Enterprise Software Products & Capabilities (ESPC) software team is seeking a Senior Software Project Engineer to join our multi-discipline team in Hazelwood, Missouri to develop innovative technologies relating to small size, weight, and power computing solutions for both military weapons applications and commercial small autonomous UAV/UAS. 

The ideal candidate for this role is an experienced software engineer with experience in project/program management who is capable of understanding technical details of embedded software development with focus on project execution, reporting, and planning.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Help coordinate internal resources and skill sets for project execution
  • Ensure that software projects are delivered on-time, within scope and budget
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving relevant stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and projects costs
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and metrics
  • Report and escalate software project related issues to management as needed
  • Delegate software project tasks based on junior staff members’ individual strengths, skill sets and experience levels
  • Track software project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long term goals
  • Develop comprehensive software project plans to be shared with stakeholders and customers
  • Develop spreadsheets, diagrams and process maps to document needs
  • Host a variety of meetings including scrum of scrums, software change control board, and others as needed

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • Experience with Agile Software Development
  • 2+ years of experience in software development project management
  • 3+ years of experience in embedded software development
  • 5+ years of software development experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • PMP Certification or desire to pursue
  • Experience using SW Tools: Jira, Confluence, ClearCase, Git, Bit Bucket
  • Experience with Avionics Systems
  • Active Secret Security Clearance

Typical Education/Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:
