The Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) Mission Systems & Autonomy (MS&A) software capability is seeking a Real-Time Embedded Software Engineer (Level 3) in Huntington Beach, CA. The position will involve developing real-time embedded software that will run on a custom mission data processor in Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) sensor payloads. The selected candidate will support an EO/IR sensor product team focused on creating next-generation, cutting edge sensors for Boeing and customer platforms ranging from aircraft to spacecraft. The product team is focused on providing complete solutions, including systems engineering, optics design, algorithms, software development, firmware development, and electronics. Project and program deliverables include system prototypes and proof-of-concept demonstration. We are looking for people who like to try new things and aren’t afraid of a challenge!

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop code and integrate complex software components into a fully functional software system
  • Implement, document and maintain complex architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
  • Develop software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, execute test procedures and document test results to ensure software system requirements are met
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Masters or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree
  • 3+ years of experience designing and developing software for a real time system
  • 1+ Experience with Software Testing or Software Verification

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience developing Internal Research and Development (IRAD) projects
  • Experience writing software for real-time digital signals processing for aerospace and defense applications
  • Experience using team collaboration tools including Git, Bitbucket, JIRA, and Confluence.
  • Experience automating software builds, unit tests, integration tests, deployment, and installations using a DevOps tool chain (Gitlab, Jenkins, Nexus, Artifactory, etc).
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Active Security Clearance

      

Typical Education & Experience:

Typically 15 or more years' related work experience or relevant military experience. Advanced degree (e.g. Bachelor, Master, etc.) preferred, but not required.
