Boeing Defense Space & Security has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Electrical Systems Design Engineer to join the team supporting Space and Launch Programs located in Pugit Sound-  Tukwila, WA.

Within Puget Sound’s secured program area walls, we create the next generation products and services for the Boeing Defense, Space & Security business. We work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space.  We focus on both rapid prototyping and program development to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers.  You will play a key role as a Lead Engineer with a group that works all facets of engineering from concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.

To put it in more simple words… The position will support design, development, and integration of avionic and comm electrical systems for a space application. The position provides an opportunity work with an experienced, interdisciplinary team to develop unique systems to meet challenging requirements on a dynamic development program. Position Responsibilities

  • Works under supervision to develop and document complex avionics, electronic and electrical system requirements/architectures
  • Analyzes and translates requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications.
  • Supports trade studies, analyzes results, and performs design reviews
  • Develops and maintains electrical product detail, assembly and installation designs (e.g., power, harness routing and payloads)
  • Monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements
  • Delivers electrical sub-system components and supports integration
  • Conducts tests and validates electrical system to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements
  • Must possess good organizational, interpersonal, and problem solving skills
  • Must have demonstrated a strong work ethic and sense of urgency for completing assigned work with a history of meeting commitments
  • Ability to adjust priorities to multiple demands and unanticipated events

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.Domestic travel may be required up to 15% of the time.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  A final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • The ability to obtain a U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Must have a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering is a plus
  • Experienced in working collaboratively with other suppliers to creatively solve problems and generate alternatives
  • A strong background in design, integration, and test of electrical systems
  • Experience with Research and Development or prototype systems
  • Experience with engineering project leadership from concept design through development and delivery of prototype hardware
  • Experience with communication systems (RF and Optical) in the aerospace industry, or even better, within the space industry

Typical Education/Experience

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
