Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) is seeking a Senior Nondestructive Inspection Technical Analyst to join our team in Huntington Beach, California.

This role will support the local nondestructive testing (NDT) work - onsite NDT at Palmdale and Victorville, NDT of failed parts at Huntington Beach labs, NDT at C-17 depots, supporting onsite NDT witness activities at suppliers for SLS, and development of NDT procedures for BCA and C-17.

Note: some travel will be required.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) of parts and assemblies used on air, space, and marine vehicles to support engineering evaluation

  • Interpret various non-destructive inspection (NDI) specifications and ensure compliance.

  • Develop or revise NDT procedures and NDI specifications/standards.

  • Design and evaluate NDT reference standards

  • Evaluate NDI equipment, develop or design special equipment as-needed.

  • Provide technical expertise in NDT technology to internal and external customers, including the five major methods – UT, ET, RT, MT, PT

  • Provide documented recommendations and create formal reports as-needed.

  • Support development of others in NDT

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.  

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • High school diploma or higher

  • 6+ years of experience performing ultrasonic (UT), eddy current (ET), radiographic (RT), magnetic particle (MT), and/or penetrant (PT) testing in accordance with industry specifications/standards

  • NAS410 qualified and previously certified Level 2 or 3 in at least three of the following six methods: ultrasonic (UT), eddy current (ET), radiographic (RT), magnetic particle (MT), penetrant (PT), infrared testing (IRT)

  • 3+ more years of experience writing NDT procedures and techniques

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • NAS410 qualified and previously certified Level 2 or 3 in at least four of the following six methods: UT, ET, RT, MT, PT, IRT

  • 2+ years of developing reference standards for UT or ET

  • Experience with performing thermography/infrared testing (IRT)

  • Experience with setting up and operating AUSS systems

  • Experience with setting up and operating MAUS systems

Typical Education/Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 6 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor+4 years' related work experience, 8 years' related work experience, etc.).
