The Boeing Company is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer / Chief Engineer - Vehicle Management Systems Avionics based out of either Berkeley MO, North Charleston SC, Long Beach CA, El Segundo CA, Mesa AZ, Oklahoma City OK, Huntsville AL, Plano TX, San Antonio TX, Herndon VA, Colorado Springs CO, or Ridley Park PA. Our team is seeking a senior systems engineer to lead the development of next-generation vehicle management systems for commercial and defense aerospace platforms. This unique position provides an exciting opportunity to lead the complete product development lifecycle, from the elicitation of customer use cases through the launch of a new avionics system onto multiple diverse platforms. The selected candidate will utilize their depth of knowledge with vehicle management systems and breadth of experience across engineering disciplines to ensure a "systems approach" is taken in developing the system architecture and design. Position Responsibilities: Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to lead activities to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Leads others to evaluate customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Leads analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Leads analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success. Leads, develops, maintains and identifies improvements the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.
This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry 3+ years of experience in the development of vehicle management systems 9+ years of experience in systems engineering
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Relocation: This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
