The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Associate Software Engineers to join the Virtual Warfare Center team located in St. Louis, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

As part of the Virtual Warfare Center (VWC) software engineering team, the selected engineer will work on various toolsets for virtual simulation and experimentation. The selected individual is responsible for developing capabilities for a variety of customers, both internal partners and external contracts. The primary toolsets are the Virtual Interactive Simulation Environment (VISE) which is a suite of simulations, components, tools and interfaces and Advanced Framework for Simulation (AFSIM). These toolsets are responsible for the Operator in the Loop (OITL) real time simulation experiments at the VWC. As an integral team member, you will be able to model platforms, sensors and emitters, communications, weapons systems, tactical systems and much more! These simulations and tools communicate using Distributive Interactive Simulation (DIS) standards. You will also have the opportunity to support large experimentation efforts which will involve a number of sophisticated concept capabilities.

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Position Responsibilities:

  • As a member of the virtual simulation team, an Associate Engineer will collaborate with both the Boeing development team and outside partners on a large scale federated simulation environment.
  • This particular role will focus on our virtual experimentation toolset in support of both Internal Research and Development and Contractual Research and Development efforts.
  • The engineer will be responsible to help build requirements, develop simulation software, troubleshoot existing software review software designs and develop test plans.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.  Ability to obtain Secret US Security clearance (Post-Start).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • 1+ years’ experience with Linux Development Environment
  • 1+ years’ experience with C++
  • 1+ years’ experience with version control systems such as Git or Subversion

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Prior experience with Agile SDLC methodology
  • Prior experience with operator in the loop real time Simulation
  • Prior experience with Distributive Interactive Simulation (DIS) standards
  • Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong team mentality and willingness to contribute

Typical Education/Experience:

  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master).
  • In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
