Boeing is seeking a Mid-level Software Engineer to join the growing team in Boeing Additive Manufacturing Intelligence Center.  This role will be located in Auburn, WA.

Additive manufacturing brings enormous opportunities to Boeing, including innovative designs, advanced tooling, individualized services, and many more. The rapid advancement of additive manufacturing industrialization at Boeing calls for a systematic and practical understanding of the printing process and its correlations to properties and part design. Such understanding requires the physics-based and data-driven simulation, monitoring, and analytics of all the critical steps in the design to additive manufacturing process chain. The end goal is to leverage these intelligent approaches to enhance product/platform performance.

Working within the Boeing Additive Manufacturing Intelligence Center, you will aid in the deployment of the AM digital thread and advanced computing technologies to address business needs. You will partner with Boeing internal teams, universities, and public institutes to rapidly mature emerging technologies trends and products. You will work directly with additive manufacturing customers at Boeing to address needs in quality control, process development, and manufacturing. Finally, you will assist in customer consultations, deliver major system components, contribute to R&D proposals, and advise on the use of appropriate computational tools and processes.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Actively support the design, development, debugging, testing, production hardening, and deployment of digital tools for the Auburn Additive Manufacturing Facility to enable digital thread and digital twin capabilities.

  • Assists with analyses to evaluate customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.

  • Interface with and provide requirements for a geographically distributed software development team and the manufacturing environment.

  • Assist the implementation of shop floor digital solutions, data management strategies, and enable feedback loop of additive manufacturing data to support engineering design and qualification.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 3+ years of experience programming with software development and analysis tools (examples include: Python, C#, Groovy, Java, MATLAB, etc.)

  • Experience communicating and working with a geographically distributed development and support team.

  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems and system administration

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Masters and/or Ph.D. in a relevant field of study

  • Experience in Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) technologies (Apache Nifi)

  • Experience with a major database vendor’s product

  • Experience with implementing data acquisition in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience with the Software Development lifecycle (including Requirements Analysis, Design, Code, Integration & Test, Sustainment), test driven development (TDD)

  • Experience in continuous integration/delivery, agile management tools (TFS/Jira)

  • Experience in Cloud application development

Typical Education / Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
