The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking a Senior Training Systems Project Engineer located in Richardson, TX. This position will be responsible for coordinating a team of engineers in designing, testing, deploying, and sustaining multiple training systems for the Navy.  The system consists of hardware and software to simulate the P8-A mission for 100% on ground training of Navy crew.  The first system was fielded in 2020 and overall, is very early in its long mission life.  Come build a career with us!

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for overall system road map
  • Coordinates internal resources, suppliers, and customers to complete deliveries
  • Develops and shapes statement of work (SOW) with customer, internal team, and the PM
  • Scheduling with the internal team and suppliers to ensure alignment on HW and SW builds
  • Plan with external customer to schedule installations
  • Identifies performance metrics
  • Plans, identifies, and coordinates resources required over the life of the project
  • Works with teams to develop plans for risk mitigation and opportunity capture
  • Compares actual results to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity and lessons learned
  • Provides technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans
  • Develops solutions to complex problems that require ingenuity and innovation
  • Works under minimal direction from the program manager
  • Travel to St Louis MO, Whidbey Island WA, and Jacksonville FL as needed (Max 20%)

This position allows telecommuting.  The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires an active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 3+ years of leadership or project management experience
  • 1+ years of experience in hardware and software integration
  • Ability to travel 10-20% of the time

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 1+ years of experience applying Program Management Best Practices (PMBPs) to include project planning / scheduling and applying Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Experience leading/working on Agile teams
  • Training system design or build experience

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 6 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor+4 years' related work experience, 8 years' related work experience, etc.).

Relocation:
