The Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Southern California Global Design Center (SCGDC) is seeking an Interiors Certification Plan Owner (Associate Engineer) to work closely with team members in Long Beach and Puget Sound to successfully own and develop Certification Plans in support of the Payloads Engineering organization.

This position is located in Long Beach, CA.  

The Certification Plan Owner role is a dynamic position that plays an important role in the certification process and involves frequent collaboration with Engineering, the Interiors Certification group, and Regulatory Administration. This position requires a proactive individual who is able to communicate and coordinate with multiple groups and functions across sites.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Creates, develops, and controls certification plans (737 galleys/main cabin, other interior commodities, and subcomponents) from initial conception until final acceptance by Regulatory Administration and the FAA.

  • Manages multiple certification plans simultaneously and effectively, meeting project milestones and aircraft delivery schedules.

  • Communicates information with different sub disciplines and teams such as Payloads, Electrical, Mechanical Systems, and others.

  • Uses tools including the Design Change Classification System (DCCS), Customer & Supplier Data Submittal Tool (CSDT) and Capto to create, develop, and track certification plans.

  • Interacts with technical experts such as Design Approval Engineers (DAEs) and Engineering Unit Members (E-UMs).

  • Properly documents and tracks project status, ensuring it is communicated to various groups and management.

  • Seeks opportunities to drive and implement continuous improvements in processes and tools.

  • Possesses solid understanding of certification flows, processes, tools, and stakeholders.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors of Science from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, or other technical degree

  • Strong oral and written communications skills

  • 2+ years experience working with and partnering with cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Certification Tracking (Capto) system

  • Experience in the Design Change Classification System (DCCS)

  • Experience in using the Customer & Supplier Data Submittal tool (CSDT)

  • Experience in writing production, component, or modification Certification Plans

Education/ Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
