The Boeing Space & Launch division is seeking a Mid-Level Software Engineer with DevSecOps experience that is passionate about space and excited to work in a multi-disciplined, collaborative engineering environment that supports the design, development, and implementation of flight, and mission software for experimental space systems. Primary location for this position is located in Seal Beach, CA

The ideal candidate will develop and maintain the infrastructure that aids software engineers in the execution of full life-cycle software development.  The candidate will leverage their knowledge of DevSecOps to implement robust continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines; integrated with automated testing, and vulnerability & quality scanning capabilities. The candidate will install and configure modern technologies into the toolchain and maintain them throughout the life of the contract. The candidate requires a continuous improvement mindset at all times and will encourage and build automated processes wherever possible.  Candidates should possess excellent communications skills and work well in a team environment to support the needs of the Integrated Product Team.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Performing software tools and environment deployment, modernization, and maintenance activities, including installation and configuration of integrated software engineering environments based upon current DevSecOps frameworks using

    • cloud-based environments and containerized applications;

    • configuration management and deployment products (Ansible, etc);

    • continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) concepts and tools (Jenkins, JIRA, Artifactory, Crucible);

    • code quality and static and dynamic analysis tools (Coverity, SonarQube, etc);

    • software containerization and container orchestration products (Docker, Kubernetes, etc).

  • Designs and develops the automation pipeline and integrated deployment processes to aid in software build and releases activities.

  • Performs technical support for the program and assists in satisfaction of Application Security, IT, and customer security directives and requirements ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats.

  • Manages software dependencies including evaluation, acquisition & licensing, integration, and maintenance for software used by developers to execute the program.

  • Assists software teams and IT with server upgrades/patches, database support, and setup of virtual environments. Supports operating system, infrastructure, and platform hardening.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires a current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required) or requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree

  • 5 or more years of experience in Software Development, Integration, or other IT related projects with a Bachelor’s degree (masters +3 years)

  • Experience with DevSecOps tools and techniques

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Agile software development environment

  • Maintains a Security+ or equivalent certification

  • Experience with traditional project management including budget management, scheduling, and estimating

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master +3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
