Boeing’s Advanced Design and Prototype Solutions (ADaPS) organization in Huntsville, AL is looking for several simulation and algorithm developers to contribute to development of air and missile defense sensor systems.

The successful candidate(s) will contribute to development and fielding of integrated flight software and simulations used to develop, analyze, integrate and test rocket hosted software systems.
The Simulation and Algorithm Developers will work in small Agile teams composed of diverse engineering skills and will be encouraged to use their talents to take on complex problems on a variety of programs.  These individuals will be responsible for developing technical products, plans, documentation, and briefings in support of program requirements.

ADaPS (an organization of over 100 software engineers) supports programs across the entire portfolio of Boeing products including Space Launch Systems (SLS) Upper Stage, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD - missile defense), Commercial Space Crew Transportation System (CST-100), and Advanced Missile Defense efforts including Patriot Advanced Capability. ADaPS specializes in implementing rapid prototyping and development programs using small, adaptable Agile teams.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Development of software for real-time embedded applications, or simulations and tools.

  • Produce software and document the software requirements and designs.

  • Unit test the software and assist with integration testing

  • Facilitate peer reviews

This position allows limited telecommuting. (Hybrid) The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.  (Huntsville, AL)

This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.  An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • This position requires US Citizenship.

  • Requires the ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

  • Bachelor’s degree in either software engineering or computer engineering

  • This position requires some programming experience, school project or internships using one or more of the following languages: C, C++, Java, C#    

  • This position requires operating system knowledge of LINUX or Windows

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

One or more of the following are desired:

  • Master’s degree in either software engineering or computer engineering strongly preferred

  • Some coursework or experience with MATLAB

  • Some knowledge of guidance, navigation or control for spacecraft or rocket systems

  • Some knowledge or experience with large integrated simulations on distributed machines or virtual machines

  • Some knowledge or experience with game development or Unity gaming engine for distributed use

  • Some type of work experience or school project involving orbital mechanics or high speed flight

  • Some type of work experience or knowledge of avionics buses such as 1553, or RS-422 and threaded I/O control

  • Some type of work experience or knowledge of telemetry protocols and testing

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master).

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
