Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking Senior Flight Dynamics Software Developers for their Satellite Systems Division located in El Segundo, CA.

We are seeking engineers that are passionate about space and excited to work in a multi-disciplined, collaborative engineering environment that supports the design, development, and implementation of the orbital analysis software products used by astrodynamics analysts for space vehicle transfer orbit and on-station operations.

This position requires demonstrated experience within both the software and aerospace ecosystems, a diverse background of project experience, and the clear exhibition of superior judgment and decision making to engineer new solutions and capabilities.  Demonstrated critical thinking and troubleshooting skills are required.

Primary Responsibilities & Expectations:

  • Partner with program astrodynamics counterparts to coordinate across a multi-disciplined engineering organization including teams such as systems engineering, attitude control, flight software, command and control, and space vehicle database teams to gather engineering inputs and determine the appropriate software implementation.

  • Perform full life-cycle development including requirements definition, software architecture, design, implementation, unit, functional and integration, and formal qualification testing through documentation.

  • Software implementation for space vehicles agnostic of the vehicle characteristics, transfer orbit type, operating orbit regime, propulsion system, and constellation.

  • Adapt the software components to interface with new system architectures to meet program and customer needs; including but not limited to open system architectures and industry standard protocols.

  • Highly motivated and must work well in a team environment.

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. A final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required

  • 1+ years of experience related to satellite orbital mechanics, dynamics, design, or astrodynamics analysis (related to orbit determination, maneuver planning & reconstruction, ephemeris generation, station-keeping analysis, etc)

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).
