The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking an Associate Engineering Customer Support Technician located in Layton, UT.   The GMD Depot requires technicians to support engineering development and troubleshooting activities.  The technician works in coordination with engineering to maintain, sustain, troubleshoot and repair hardware in the missile field and various labs.

GMD Ground System technicians participate in the design, development, assembly and test of electronic hardware.  Technicians work side by side with program engineers to build and test engineering prototypes and production hardware. The technicians provide installation and troubleshooting support at remote locations and some travel is required from time to time.

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide technical support for maintenance, repair and preventive measures that ensure continued safe and economic operations for customers
  • Apply technical knowledge to research, develop, test and evaluate operations, support programs, modifications, repairs and technical data
  • Communicate design and operational issues and concerns with Engineering
  • Develop in-service correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment. Participates on anomaly investigation team or support team
  • Participate in disabled product on-site surveys to assess extent of damage
  • Adapt existing test procedures, oversees execution of test procedures and coordinates resolution of test anomalies to return products to operational status

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.  An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience in electronics or electrical troubleshooting
  • 3+ years of experience setting up equipment and performing tests on various products and assemblies using manual, semi-automatic, and/or automated test devices
  • 3+ years of experience working with and/or interpreting engineering data or engineering drawings

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Have or have held an active U.S. Security Clearance in the past 24 months
  • Previous experience working on the Ground Based Mid-Course Defense (GMD) system
  • Field Services experience
  • Have held an IPC quality certification

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor, 3 years' related work experience, etc.).

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
