The selected candidate reports to the AEW&C Software Development Manager and will build, manage, maintain and configure the labs used by the AEW&C teams for developing and testing mission critical software. The selected candidate will have responsibility for ensuring the labs get built up, persist in security and regulatory compliance and stay operational to help meet our commitment to customers.  Join us, and you can build something better for yourself, for our customers and for the world. The software engineer will have an excellent opportunity to experience the entire software lifecycle while building the newest airborne platforms in the international AEWC fleet.  This position will provide the candidate an opportunity to develop engineering skills with potential growth into a leadership role.  The candidate may travel internationally to support software deployment and flight testing as required by the customer.  Additionally, the Mission System Software Team works collaboratively with engineers at many Boeing sites and suppliers to develop and integrate mission systems capabilities into the AEWC fleet.

Position Responsibilities

  • Leading the effort to build, manage, maintain and configure software development and integration labs for AEW&C programs
  • Leads activities to submit configuration documents to the US Government
  • Works with SEIT, System Architect, and engineers on program requirements, design, modification, and implementation of lab hardware and software
  • Provides details on lab system capabilities, needs, shortcomings, and improvements to the Program manager and Chief Engineer
  • Manages program equipment hardware and software to include purchases, storage, and movement in and out of classified areas
  • Assists the manager in identifying staffing needs or gaps
  • Manages and distributes the lab resource availability and test schedule to include updates and distribution
  • Works with the Lab Team, LISSO, ISSO, and ISSM to ensure that the lab is in compliance and current on the established security standards
  • Works under minimal direction

Workplace:

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Oklahoma City, OK location.

Travel:

Travel may be required up to 25% of the time; Domestically and Internationally depending on business needs.

Security Clearance:

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Export Control:

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Ability to obtain Top Secret US Security clearance (Post-Start)
  • Bachelors, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 3+ years Experience in developing/maintaining engineering labs for software development and test purposes
  • At least a rudimentary knowledge of System Administration tasks

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • At least 2+ years previous experience in relevant complex systems integration and test domains
  • Experience in leading or managing projects and/or teams is highly desired
  • Experience in HW integration and verification
  • Experience with SAFe or other Agile development
  • Airborne surveillance, command and control domain experience
  • Experience with Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEWC) and/or AWACS product lifecycle
  • The selected candidate must be comfortable in a highly collaborative environment (usually between multiple sites) and possess demonstrated creative, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills

Typical Education/Experience

Typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
