Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking Mid-Level Compliance and Certification Systems Engineers (Level 3) to join its team in Everett, Washington. 

This is a great career opportunity in the Regulatory Administration Compliance team within Boeing ODA (Organization Designation Authorization). The position provides exposure to a close interaction with a dynamic team of project managers, wider Boeing organizations as well as FAA-BASOO office. The successful candidate would be leading variety of Compliance related projects, primarily conducting and managing Root Cause Analyses (RCA), while applying Problem Solving Models on issues either identified by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) or ones identified internally.

This role requires use of various project management tools and software to facilitate and/or conduct Root Cause Analysis. The candidate selected for this position will be responsible for conducting research to determine if there is a noncompliance to the ODA Procedures Manual, or the Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs). They will help resolve medium complexity certification technical issues and provide clarification on the procedures related to Letters of Investigation, Informal Compliance Actions, Voluntary Disclosures, Internal Audit findings, or Part 25 Airworthiness Non-Compliances.

This person will closely coordinate with the FAA, organize and conduct meetings, as required, in order to resolve any outstanding concerns. Daily duties include cross-functional, multi-team coordination between Engineering teams, Regulatory Administration, Safety, Quality and other organizations, while ensuring regulatory project milestones are met. In support of company performance goals, close monitoring, and tracking of assigned action items is expected. This position may involve active support, participation and involvement in either Internal or the FAA audits, Supervisions or any other Regulatory Oversight, as required. 

Position Responsibilities:

• Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions

• Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces

• Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture

• Performs analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success

• Develops, maintains and identifies improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes. Resolves cross-functional technical issues

• Primary focus is on Airworthiness Compliance and Certification related processes

This position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

• 3+ years of experience in project management

• 1+ years of experience in systems engineering

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• 3+ years of experience in FAA regulations

• 3+ years of experience with Root Cause Analysis

Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
