Boeing Missions and Weapon Systems is currently looking for a Senior Software Maintenance Engineer to join their team in Heath, OH. 

This position will focus on supporting the Central Data Acquisition System (CDAS) which is a US Air Force owned, Boeing managed data system, serving as a tool to collect failure, test, repair and performance data for Minuteman Missile Guidance Sets (MGSs).  It includes the Component Configuration and Repair (CCR) function to maintain information on component configuration, failure, test and repair activities; and the Test Performance Results (TPR) function to collect and store test information generated during repair center tests of Minuteman MGS components.  This is an ongoing maintenance role for an existing suite of software.

Position Responsibilities

  • Coordinate major demonstrations and acceptance for application upgrades.
  • Document and prioritize application enhancements for development team.
  • Perform ongoing administrative tasks including system audits, inventory management, hardware maintenance and application administration including adding users, disability users, and applying quarterly patches
  • Manage an isolated network (add/delete users, ensure data flow from test stations to the public network, etc.).
  • Support and train users in the proper use of the applications.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance in accordance with Boeing’s security policies (access control/validation, DFARS, risk/vulnerability assessment, etc.)
  • Develop application policies and procedures for technician, engineers, and administrators.

The MinuteMan-III (MM-III) was fielded in the late 1990's and is planned to be retired after 2038. Much of Boeing Guidance and Repair Center (BGRC)'s software and databases will need to be maintained so they can be viable for the next 15 years. This position will monitor, identify, satisfy and validate software/database operation to ensure it is meeting all requirements.

Other duties at the Boeing Guidance Repair Center (BGRC) can include capturing and reviewing data from repair from a variety of military (USAF, Navy, and Foreign) customers. Software responsibilities include reviewing data for accuracy and completeness, developing software improvements, monitoring database activity, and solving engineering problems from product engineers with data.  Engineering careers at BGRC are both challenging and fulfilling.

This position has been identified as a virtual opportunity and does not require applicants to live in Heath, Ohio, US

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience debugging and troubleshooting technical problems involving computer memory or timing considerations.
  • Experience programming in languages such as LabVIEW, C, FORTRAN, C+, etc.
  • Experience in performing system audits, inventory management, hardware maintenance and application administration
  • Experience coordinating demonstrations and acceptance for application upgrades
  • A positive attitude towards learning, software quality, and teamwork.

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
